Description
EN
Garrow Tor is a 330m high rocky hill to the south west of Brown Willy. It`s a significant walk from any direction but its quietness & views make it worth the effort to get here. The cache is hidden on open access land on Garrow Downs, just south of the Tor. From this location there are great views of both Garrow Tor & Brown Willy ridge.
The simplest route to the cache is from the west on the footpath that crosses Emblance Downs. Please consult Ordnance Survey map "Explorer 109" for route planning in the area.
This cache was hidden in 2009 and originally listed on terracaching.com - "TCD4T".

New log entry
07 July 2009 Amberel Found it
Found while it was still a TerraCache. Here is my log from last year:
With legs still aching from my efforts at De Lank Valley, I rode over to Candra. I had it in my mind that there was a car-park here, but I didn't see one, and so left the bike parked up close to the wall at the last bit of civilisation before the moor.
My main target today was Brown Willy, but Garrow Tor was "in the way"
. After visiting the "King Arthur" Groundspeak cache, a straightforward approach up Garrow Tor led me directly to the hiding place, though I didn't find the cache until I looked there for a second time.
Awesome. Despite being 62 years old this is my very first Tor on either Bodmin Moor or Dartmoor. But it won't be the last.
Thanks for the cache in such a great location.
I should add a retrospective comment to the TerraCache log - Garrow Tor may have been my first Tor, but it certainly was not my last. For the remainder of last year, and again this year, I have visited many Tors, and Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor have become my most loved places in the country to visit.
Rgds, Andy
