Michaela Strachan with her cache

BBC TV Presenter Michaela Strachan placed this cache on 24th February 2009 after completing filming a feature on geocaching for BBC1's Countryfile programme, broadcast Sunday 1st March 2009 at 11:00 GMT.

The geocaching feature had a storyline woven around it: the Goring Gap and Red Kites presented interesting material for the programme and Michaela had to answer questions about them to find the caches. Before that, she was introduced to caching with a simple offset cache, where she had to derive the coordinates of the cache container from information found at the start location, then walk to a spot with a great view to find the cache.

To locate Michaela's Cache, you have to retrace her steps by finding the three caches that she found:

1. Mansfield to Oxford
2. The Goring Gap
3. Red Kite

From these you need the six character confirmation codes that I'll refer to in sequence as above as:

ABCDEF GHJKLM NPQRST

The cache coordinates are N51° 37.QA(B-1)' W1° 02.(L-1)P(M+1)'

where alphabetic characters from the confirmation codes are converted to digits where A=1 ... I=9, J=0, K=1 ... S=9, T=0 etc.

The cache can be found as a bonus on return from Red Kite, so no extra walking is required.

No hint should be needed as the cache is a straightforward find. Use the hint only to confirm whether it is missing.

Reception isn't very good here and there are many possible hiding places. After searching for forty-five minutes we finally found the well-hidden cache. We suggest that this is worth more than D2 especially as one first needs to find three other difficult caches.

Thanks for the cache.

15 April 2010 Amberel Found it

A little over a year ago I found this cache as a TerraCache. Now it's an OpenCache, so I've come back to log it for the second time.

When I reached GZ, I found the cache had been extremely well hidden by the previous finder - oh, that was me Wink.

The cache remains in perfect condition, and really deserves a few more finders.

Thanks for the cache,

Edited to add - that was my 50th OpenCache Laughing .
